Description

The design concept focused on a gradual transition from public to private areas. The layout features two main sections: a lower area overlooking the plaza and a double-height space at the rear lacking natural light. By investigating vintage plans from the 1970s, a blocked clerestory window was uncovered and reopened, enhancing the space’s ambiance. The shift from individual offices to an open-plan design required extensive client involvement during the initial design stages.

The plaza-level unit within the 40-year-old mall, initially designated for a restaurant, has been transformed into the new offices for Real Properties. This office renovation was carried out to harmonize with Real Properties’ recent rebranding efforts at Jackson Square, a project also completed by DPAI.

In addition to the open-plan office, the client requested a private meeting room, a boardroom, a prominent reception area with access control, and a communal space. Baltic birch millwork was strategically integrated to define and connect different zones throughout the project. The design harmoniously blends existing and new finishes, juxtaposes natural textures with sleek surfaces, and juxtaposes soft materials against more robust elements. The office redesign successfully reflects the client’s new image and fosters a collaborative office culture.
