Long overdue for renovation, this financial institution will have its new office space within the same building it currently resides – an office tower in Hamilton’s downtown core. DPAI was commissioned to update their space, designing a workplace to align with the company’s aspirations, optimize real estate, and promote a flexible, activity-based work style better suited to employee needs.
The number of enclosed private offices was significantly reduced, opting instead for multi-use spaces such as a flex room, focus room, meeting rooms, lounge, and touchdown areas to promote innovation, improve collaboration and foster belonging. The diversity in space types allows for choice and easy movement within the space, while encouraging impromptu interactions.
A movable partition was also integrated, allowing the meeting room to combine with the lounge for an easy reconfiguration of spaces to serve a variety of functions. New staff servery, print room, and locker areas were carefully considered to be functional while also integrating seamlessly into the surrounding design so they could remain open to the public spaces.
Glazed partitions were used throughout to reduce visual barriers and optimize views. While lending to a sense of openness, they also maximize employee’s access to natural light throughout the office.
