dpai Walked A Mile In Her Shoes

DPAI is thrilled to have been part of yesterday’s supremely successful Walk A Mile in Her Shoes!

This year, YWCA Hamilton was hoping for 465 Walkers in Heels: one walker for every woman who receives support from the YWCA programming and services. With a total of 78 teams from throughout our entire community, this year’s participants doubled last year’s, as nearly 500 registered walkers put on their red pumps and showed their support.

DPAI enjoyed an excellently organized event. The YWCA staff and more than 50 volunteers were able to facilitate everything from registration, contests and awards, to a pre-walk warm up!

With 1247 donations in total, the YWCA raised 121% of its $110,000.00 goal, arriving at $133,250.00!

This financial support goes directly toward providing transitional housing for women (and their children) who are escaping harm in Hamilton. Survivors will be able to receive support through the YWCA’s MacNab, Pheonix Place, transitional housing programs, as well as the YWCA’s Carol Anne’s Place, which provides relief for women facing homelessness during cold months.

Our team made it into the top 20 donors, raising a total of $1,123. 00 and surpassing our goal by 12%! A big thank you to all the donors who supported us:
